NVQ in Health and Social Care Level 2

Who is the course for?

This award is designed to be applicable to staff who delivering care to clients, whether they work in health or social care, in the private public or voluntary sectors.

What entry qualifications do you need?

No formal qualifications required.

What does the course cover?

The course consists of 6 units chosen from Mandatory Units, Optional Units and Additional units. An example of some of the units are:

Group A - Mandatory units

  • Unit - HSC21 - Communicate with, and complete records for individuals
  • Unit - HSC22 - Support the health and safety of yourself and individuals
  • Unit - HSC23 - Develop your knowledge and practice
  • Unit - HSC24 - Ensure your own actions support the care, protection and wellbeing of individuals

Group B - Optional units

  • Unit - HSC210 - Support individuals to access and participate in recreational activities
  • Unit - HSC211 - Support individuals to take part in development activities
  • Unit - HSC212 - Support individuals during therapy sessions
  • Unit - HSC213 - Provide food and drink for individuals
  • Unit - HSC214 - Help individuals to eat and drink
  • Unit - HSC215 - Help individuals to keep mobile
  • Unit - HSC216 - Help address the physical comfort needs of individuals
  • Unit - HSC217 - Undertake agreed pressure area care
  • Unit - HSC218 - Support individuals with their personal care needs
  • Unit - HSC29 - Support individuals to meet their domestic and personal needs

How will you be assessed?

An approved assessor will visit you in your workplace to assess your practical competence, knowledge and understanding. You will need to submit a portfolio to show your competence in all areas of the award.

What other qualifications can you do when you finish this award?

On completion of this programme candidates can progress to NVQ level 3 in Health & Social Care if their job role is sufficient to warrant the extra responsibility at a supervisory level.

Fees

FNTC has access to government funding through the learning and skills council dependent on the time of the year. You need to be 16 to 25 years old to qualify for government funded training. Please apply early to avoid disappointment.
