The Power of Pre-Apprenticeship Programs
Pre-Apprenticeships are powerful programmes to equip 16-18 year olds with the skills and experience they need to confidently take their next steps into a rewarding career.
We’ve interviewed two of our Pre-Apprenticeship students who have shared their experience with FNTC and our Pre-Apprenticeship programmes.
How did you hear about FNTC and its Pre-Apprenticeship programme?
I heard about FNTC through a friend who was studying a Childcare Apprenticeship. We were talking about her job, as she currently works in a nursery, and told me she was gaining her qualification with FNTC. Later, she sent me the link to the website and I applied.
What made you enrol onto the Pre-Apprenticeship programme?
I enrolled because I knew this would be the beginning of something big. At first, I had nothing – no college and no job, so this got me on track. I knew this would be good for me.
What was the outcome of your placement?
My placement happened quick, which was great – the sooner the better! I had an amazing experience; lovely people and a calm atmosphere to be in. I was there for 16 weeks and I learned that the more work and effort you put in, the bigger and better the outcome.
What have you enjoyed the most?
The part I’ve enjoyed most has to be the amount of support FNTC has given me – and of course my experience with my work placement.
How has the Pre-Apprenticeship benefitted you?
The Pre-Apprenticeship has allowed me to recognise what I want to do in life. It’s got me on track with my future and I feel as if I’m succeeding with my goals.
What are your plans after the Pre-Apprenticeship?
I want to continue my Level 2 and Level 3 Childcare and I’m aiming to complete my Maths and English skills.
Would you recommend the programme to other 16-18-year-olds? If so, why?
Yes, because they help with your key skills, as well as getting you a work placement. They get you on track with your future and FNTC work hard for all their students.
How has your teacher helped you?
Emily and Sian, my two teachers, have made me feel more confident about myself and my future. They’ve been supportive throughout my time with FNTC and they’re absolute stars!
How was your experience with FNTC getting a work placement?
My experience with FNTC has been phenomenal. My coach has helped me set my goals, which were to get a placement and to get my Level 2 and 3 Childcare. Emily and Sian have helped me gain my work placement and I feel I’m well and truly on my way to my dream future!
Overall, it’s been a pleasure to have started with nothing and now have all I need to succeed. FNTC has built up my confidence in many ways and I would 100% recommend FNTC to anyone. Thank you for getting me where I wanted and needed to be!
How did you hear about FNTC and its Pre-Apprenticeship programme?
I heard about FNTC through my work placement, who put me onto the scheme as I wasn’t 16 and needed to gain work experience before I could be employed. A friend of mine was also on the Pre-Apprenticeship programme and was in the same situation as me, with the same employer.
What made you enrol onto the Pre-Apprenticeship programme?
I enrolled onto the Pre-Apprenticeship course to gain the experience I needed to get the job I wanted with my work placement. After 4 sessions with the Pre-Apprenticeship programme I’m now starting my employment and I’m really enjoying it!
What have you enjoyed the most?
I’ve really enjoyed meeting new people and making friends.
How has the Pre-Apprenticeship benefitted you?
Being around new people has boosted my confidence, as I’m not used to being in that situation. Giving answers in front of my peers in a big deal for me so it was a huge step for me to present work to the class and talk confidently in front of others.
What are you plans after the Pre-Apprenticeship?
In the future, I want to do my Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship and go on to manage a workplace. One day I want to work in a hospital and manage a department there, but I will need to gain more experience before I know which department I want to be a part of.
Would you recommend the programme to other 16-18 year olds? If so, why?
Yes, I would recommend the programme to other young people. The classes are small so you’re able to get all the support you need on a 1-1 basis.
How has your teacher helped you?
Emily is an amazing teacher and has helped me with everything I’ve needed – she’s an overall kind person.
We’re very proud of our students and they are certainly on their way to a brighter future! If you would like to join our Pre-Apprenticeship programme, you can register on our website, and if you’re a parent or guardian you can use our referral form.
