Do you find that you have a great connection with kids and have a passion for teaching? Then you might have what it takes to excel in the Childcare field. If you are looking to start a career in Childcare then an Apprenticeship may be the right route for you. There are a lot of Childcare Apprenticeships around the country so finding one that will give you the support you need and the teaching skills is very important.
There are many benefits of doing a Childcare Apprenticeship. It can lead into many different career routes such as nursery work or teaching, giving you the freedom and choice you need to work on your skills and become the best you can be. Working with children can also be fun involving lots of different activities such as arts and crafts, singing, team activities and sports. So if you’re the creative type you’re in luck and you will have plenty of opportunities to show off your skills.
Working with children can also be very rewarding. As you progress through your Apprenticeship, they will grow and develop and gain new skills along the way. You are also playing an important role in their lives by being there to teach them important life skills and boost confidence.
Other benefits of working in Childcare would be the people you are learning and working with. You will get the chance to meet many people and develop close relationships with your colleagues.
What can I do after my Apprenticeship?
So, you may be wondering what can I do after my Apprenticeship? Well you have a few options and its all a matter of personal preference and which career path you would like to go down. Once you have completed your Level 3 Apprenticeship and wish to work with a team or even manage your own team, I would suggest looking at our Level 2 Team Leader course. This will give you the foundations required to help you develop as a leading member of staff within your setting.
However if you wish to continue working with children and develop your skills in the childcare area. You can apply for our Level 4 or 5 Senior Practitioner Apprenticeship. The qualification provides an opportunity to build on your knowledge and understanding of early years practice, and develop skills that will promote quality, encourage leadership, prepare you for management responsibilities and allow for growth in coaching and mentoring others.
It would also suit those who want to progress to further learning, to take on a position of leadership within a childcare setting. You will develop and use skills of leadership, mentoring, coaching and reflection as you complete the qualification through naturally occurring, work-based learning opportunities.
If, once you’ve finished your course, you decide that you’d like to work in a different setting, there’s nothing stopping you from applying for roles at other nurseries. There are hundreds of nurseries all over the south.
The most important thing to remember when completing your Apprenticeship is to keep learning whilst you have the opportunity to do so. Employers favour staff members who are enthusiastic and keen to learn so the more you can take from the experience, the better. If you do, not only will you expand your skill set but you’ll also improve your employment prospects in the future.
